General Job Summary 

The Lead Application Laboratory Technician serves as a technical resource and leads the Application Lab Team in customer cleaning trials and analysis of data from these trials. Assists Director of Application Technology to oversee application lab operation and coordinating the daily activities of application lab team within Application Technology Department. Responsibility may include, but not limited to scheduling of the tests and projects, documents writing, training personnel and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.


Primary responsibility will be managing the applications laboratory and working closely with the Application Engineers and other Application Laboratory Technicians to support customers in Americas by conducting cleaning trials, contract cleaning, bath sample analysis, cleanliness assessments and other tasks in the application laboratory. This position will also require field visits to customers (including ITAR) to implement and start up Zestron products including Zestron Eye product line.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Is responsible for and leads/mentors the team of the laboratory technicians. Makes day-to-day decisions within the group. Manages workload with input from the Application Lab Technicians
  • Responsible for the on-time and quality of work produced by the Application Laboratory team
  • Responsible for compliance with current regulatory practices, internal standards, policies and procedures
  • Trains lab technicians on techniques and methods of analysis
  • Writes and reviews protocols and reports, and other projects
  • Develops, validates, updates analytical methods, application lab standard operating procedures (SOPs), application lab working instruction (WIs) and other operating, safety and quality documents as needed
  • Inputs and maintains technical information to support the laboratory functions/operations using ZADA and CRM for technical data entry
  • Manages multiple projects as assigned within tight deadlines
  • Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable   
  • Keeps inventory of laboratory chemicals and equipment necessary for the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory and compiles list of supplies to be ordered when needed 
  • Has working knowledge of cleaning and applications and the key components of those processes
  • Compiles and interprets accurate results of tests/ analysis with reports and graphs
  • Maintains records of AT supply spending, equipment protocols, equipment maintenance, waste management and contamination cleaning trials
  • Updates the lab schedule and equipment usage log on a weekly basis. Reviews and updates logbooks. Maintain Overlord Inventory software
  • Manages incoming parts, distribution to engineers, and returns to the customer
  • Supports the remaining engineering staff with regard to customer projects and customer support as well as internal projects
  • Provides input for lab and facilities improvement 
  • Routine maintenance and calibration of the equipment in the technical center
  • Coordinates to install, troubleshoot, repair, and retrofit equipment both mechanically and electrically 
  • Keeps the application lab cleaning and organized at all times and conduct weekly floor/tile cleaning
  • Field visits to customers (including ITAR) to implement Zestron cleaning agents including Zestron Eye product line as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Chemistry and similar disciplines AND
  • • 5+ years of experience in a lab environment following strict safety standards with hands-on experience of chemistry and chemistry instruments and 2+ years supervisory experience preferred

OR

  • Associate Degree in Chemistry and similar disciplines AND
  • 7+ years of experience in a regulated commercial lab environment following strict safety standards with hands-on experience of chemistry and chemistry instruments and 2+ years supervisory experience preferred
  • Language Skills: English - Advanced level required
  • Mathematical Skills: Advanced level required; experience with statistics preferred
  • Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate level required, advanced preferred
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word) - Advanced user proficiency preferred; Intermediate user proficiency required
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and writing, including grammar and composition
  • Strong leadership skills and abilities
  • Strong time management and organizational skills are required. Must have a sense of urgency
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals and communicate them to team members
  • Well-organized, ability to prioritize and multi-task with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of cleaning circuit board assemblies (machinery and cleaning agent technologies)
  • Skills to install, troubleshoot, repair, and retrofit equipment both mechanically and electrically 
  • Valid current driver’s license with no restrictions to driving
  • Willing to travel monthly 10% of the time throughout Americas
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, self-motivated with minimal supervision
  • Follow the guidance and direction given by the director of application technology

Physical Requirements

  • This job operates in a laboratory environment. 

  • This role routinely uses chemistry and chemistry equipment

  • Requires the ability to stand, move, bend, squat, kneel and lift equipment up to 50lbs frequently.

  • Must be able to travel by airplane and car for extended periods of time

  • Must be flexible and able to work overtime to complete time sensitive tasks if needed.

  • Loud noise level due to working with equipment to run trials in the lab
