The Challenge of Insulation Coordination Greater than 400 Volts
The manufacturing of reliable power electronics in the range of 400-500 V or even future voltages of 800-1200 V requires not only technical design and high-quality facilities but also in-depth production expertise. Similar to cooking, where the quality of the meal depends heavily on the chef rather than the kitchen equipment, experience in production plays a crucial role in preventing potential breakdowns or discharges between high voltage potentials. Previous empirical values and standards related to voltages up to 60 V are only partially applicable. Deepen your understanding of this topic in this specialized article.

Head of Reliability & Surfaces, ZESTRON Europe
Dr. Helmut Schweigart obtained his doctorate for research into the reliability of electronic sub-assemblies, and he has been employed at ZESTRON Europe since the early days of the company. He is now Head of Reliability & Surfaces Team. He is also a member of the Board of Management at GfKORR (Gesellschaft für Korrosionsschutz - a company specialising in corrosion inhibitors) as well as an active member of GUS (Gesellschaft für Umweltsimulation - an environmental simulation company) and of the IPC. He has already published numerous technical articles.
