Cleaning Before Protective Coating

Abstract

With high demands on the reliability of electronic assemblies, coordinated processes of cleaning and protective coating are an effective measure against climatic influences. Electronic PCBs are operated under a wide variety of climatic conditions.

Moisture is the most frequent cause of problems, bringing the surface insulation below a critical value. The result is malfunctions as permanent or sporadic failures. It is not uncommon for the analysed board to function perfectly again in the laboratory, which makes finding the cause even more difficult.
